COVID-19 Safety

Keeping it clean.

We are taking a number of steps to make the gym a safe, happy place to exercise.

…and it’s going to be a team effort. We’ve developed a number of protocols to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission as much as possible, by addressing potential sources of fomite, aerosol and droplet transmission. See a brief explanation of how we’ve addressed each below, and an extensive PDF of all our COVID-19 protocols and what members need to do and bring under the Resources section at the bottom of this page.

Fomite Transmission

Fomites are surfaces or objects that may transmit pathogens. While this is a less likely form of COVID-19 transmission than aerosols and droplets, we need to address it. We’re doing this by installing sanitizer stations around the gym and at the entrance so you can sanitize your hands, a sanitation bucket to disinfect the soles of your shoes, staggered gym timings , fewer members in each session (up to 7 + 2-3 trainers, state guidelines allow up to 17 people for a gym of our size), deep cleaning and ULV fogging a few times a month, and disinfecting gym equipment after each use.

Aerosol and Droplet Transmission

Aerosols are tiny liquid particles suspended in air. Droplets are heavier, and tend to fall with gravity. When you sneeze, for example, you release both aerosols and droplets. The virus remains suspended in these liquid spheres, and can be inhaled. That’s why it’s imperative to wear a mask in the gym, even while working out. While it may take some getting used to, it’s not dangerous. Our trainers and cleaners are fully vaccinated, and will be wearing masks at all times in the gym. In addition, we have installed exhaust fans to ventilate the gym and a nano-HEPA filter that will be on at all times that the gym is in use. If members have been fully vaccinated for at least 2 weeks, they have the option of not wearing a mask during their workouts.
